Music and stream playback

Music is part of what makes a 3DXChat venue feel like a venue, and clubs are among the most common things players build. No official page documents how the audio gets there, so this article rests on two community sources: the manual for the World Editor, and a community magazine walkthrough of setting a stream up. Both are unofficial and neither has been checked against the current client.

One object, one stream

Paraphrased from the community World Editor manual, an unofficial guide dated to build 374 of version 2.5 beta, March 2018. Not reverified in the client.

A room's audio comes from a single kind of object, a music station with a tablet computer, filed under the editor's category for music, electronics and computers.
The station carries a long list of ready-made streams covering a range of genres, and can also be pointed at a stream of your own.
Whatever it plays is heard by everyone who enters the shared room, not only by its owner.
You may place as many copies of the station as you like around a room. They all drive the same single stream, so a world plays one thing at a time.
Speakers, home cinema equipment and the notebook computer are decoration only, and the DJ console has an animation but no control over what is playing.

Feeding it a stream of your own

Paraphrased from a community magazine walkthrough dated 25 March 2026. It is unofficial and unverified here, but it is the most recent readable account of how room audio is fed.

The prop in the room plays a stream that already exists on the internet. It cannot play files from your own disk.
A working setup therefore has two halves: a stream hosted somewhere, and an encoder on your own machine that feeds it.
The walkthrough names Listen2MyRadio and ZenoFM as hosts, and lists what the encoder needs: a server address, a port, a mount point, the user name source, and the stream password.
The stream address that comes out of that is what you paste into the prop in your room.
It advises switching the in-game radio off and on again and waiting ten to twenty seconds for audio to arrive, and doing that outside the World Editor.
It names both free and paid hosts, and notes that the free tier it tried injects advertisements into the stream.
