Launcher, patcher, graphics, and connection troubleshooting

Almost every first-run problem in 3DXChat comes down to one of three things: a missing Microsoft runtime, an out-of-date graphics driver, or security software blocking the game. The official support pages give a diagnosis path for each.

Almost every first-run problem in 3DXChat comes down to one of three things: a missing Microsoft runtime, an out-of-date graphics driver, or security software blocking the game. The official support pages give a diagnosis path for each.

The game will not start, or crashes

Work through the official list in order:

  1. Install the latest DirectX 9.0c runtime.

  2. Confirm the graphics card supports Pixel Shader 3.0 or above.

  3. Install the current driver for that card, from NVIDIA or AMD.

  4. Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable, both the 32-bit and the 64-bit package.

  5. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.

  6. Restart the computer after installing drivers, so the new settings take effect.

  7. Put the game and the patcher on the firewall and antivirus exception lists, then run both as administrator.

Norton Antivirus is named specifically: several players resolved the problem by adding the game folder to Norton's exceptions.

The patcher will not update the game

Support gives three first steps and one reset. Do not use modified DLL files from third parties, because they damage the patching process. Add the patcher to the firewall and antivirus exceptions, and run it as administrator.

If it still fails, the supported reset is a clean reinstall: uninstall the game, remove the game folder, clear the leftover registry entries, and install the current version from the official download page.

Cannot connect to the server

The support page lists what to check on the network side:

  • Port 8125 over TCP must not be blocked by your provider, your router or your firewall.

  • The domains 3dxchat.com, api.3dxchat.com and rest.3dxchat.com should be trusted by firewall and antivirus.

  • The server address 185.71.64.45 should be trusted as well.

  • Switching to Google Public DNS is offered as an option, with the caveat that it affects all internet traffic rather than the game alone.

Connection lost during play

Two suggestions from support: stop any torrent downloads while playing, and test with the firewall and antivirus turned off, since both can interrupt the connection.

Cannot log in

A wrong-password error is handled by the official password recovery page. A crash on launch is not a login problem and goes back to the start-up checklist above. If neither helps, support asks you to contact the support team.
